Key Findings and 13 Actionable Steps to Improve Experiences for Adult Learners
The Urban Education Research Center (UMKC) and CAEL (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning), in partnership with KC Scholars and with funding support by The DeBruce Foundation, recently released a report and practice guide. The guide contains actionable steps for higher education institutions to support returning adult learners during a pandemic – with most steps relevant any time.

In the process of eight KC Scholars Postsecondary Network campuses participating in CAEL’s AL360 (https://www.cael.org/landing/adult-learner-360) to learn how to be more supportive of adult learners, the COVID pandemic hit. It was decided to seize the moment to learn more about how COVID impacted adult learners and how higher education institutions could provide needed support.
