TRIO PROGRAMS AT POSTSECONDARY NETWORK CAMPUSES
TRIO programs are hosted by colleges and universities across the country and they are available to students at various stages of the academic pipeline, from middle school to graduate school.
Every program is unique: some are located on campus to serve current college students, others are located out in the community to serve high school students or returning adults, but all programs have the same goal: to provide disadvantaged students with free support services to help them obtain a college degree. Program Description: Student Support Services (SSS) Inspired to Achieve works with first-generation college students, those who come from a modest-income household, or students who have some type of disability throughout their time at Avila
Target Population: Current college students at Avila

Services Offered: Peer and professional tutoring, academic advising, financial literacy, learning communities workshops, financial aid workshops, , graduate school test prep, workshops, counseling, career exploration, mentoring, graduate school visits, cultural activities, and grant aid
Program Description: Upward Bound programs supplement the student’s high school experience with academic enrichment services, career exploration, self-development opportunities, cultural exposure opportunities, and assistance with college and financial aid admissions
Target Population: 9th – 12th grade students at Grandview or Ruskin High School
Location: Avila Hodes Center
Services Offered: Tutoring, ACT prep, campus tours, academic/personal/career advising, cultural exposure, community service opportunities, educational workshops, study skills, health awareness, 6-week residential Summer Excellence Institute, FAFSA completion, admissions application assistance, and leadership conferences
Program Description: Educational Supportive Services (ESS) is a free service that helps first-generation, income-limited and disabled students earn undergraduate degrees. ESS students can take advantage of one-on-one tutoring, workshops (academic, financial, career, etc.), cultural events, peer mentoring and more—all designed to make sure students improve academic success, graduate and achieve their life goals. ESS is funded by a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant.

Program Description: Student Support Services at Kansas State Polytechnic has been serving students on the Salina Campus since 2001. SSS currently serves 160 students annually on the Salina Campus.

Program Description: Student Support Services is a program at Lincoln University, funded by the U.S. Department of Education that makes a college education possible to a group of individuals who may not have believed that college was an option because of cost, poor high school performance or other barriers to education.

Program Description: The Missouri Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is an education and skills program designed to serve the needs of today’s veterans. The program’s mission is to provide qualifying veterans with the skills and motivation necessary to enter and succeed in a post-secondary education program.
Target Population: Veterans with at least 180 days of active service and who live in Jackson, Clay or Platte counties in Missouri

Program Description: The Kansas City Educational Opportunity Center is one of only three EOCs in Missouri and has been serving area residents since 1979. The program is funded to assist at least 2427 individuals annually, two-thirds of whom are low-income, first-generation college students. The primary purpose of EOC is to increase the number of adults enrolling in postsecondary education programs.
Target Population: High school students and adults ages 24 and older who are not currently enrolled. Participants must live in Jackson, Clay or Platte counties.

Program Description: KU TRIO Talent Search is a free college access program that provides assistance to youth to help them remain in school, pursue postsecondary education, and earn a certificate, associates degree, or bachelor’s degree.
Target Population: 6-12 grade students in Kansas City, Kansas school district
