Data Architect / Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reports to: Technology Manager
Location: Kansas City, MO Hybrid: 2 days in office, 3 days remote (technology provided)
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Salary: Annual salary based on experience

Key Performance Indicators:
· Maintain 95% accurate and on-time data ETL processing.
· Architect data platform with scalability to accommodate 100% of data storage and processing requirements.
· Ensure data accuracy of at least 90%
· Maintain 100% compliance with applicable regulatory and data governance requirements.
· Ensure data environment scheduled availability (uptime) of at least 99%
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Architect/Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient data architectures, as well as building and maintaining the data pipelines that support our organization’s data-driven initiatives. They will oversee the implementation and operations of industry-leading data and interoperability platforms that will enable the accessibility and analysis of information to drive improved Scholar outcomes and gain a better understanding of our impact.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Create efficient data platforms and models to support the organization’s data-driven initiatives.
- Lead the identification, implementation and management processes of data platforms, data collection and storage and data analysis tools.
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines for the efficient movement and transformation of data.
- Integrate external and internal data sources into well architected data models that support business analysis and data science initiatives.
- Work with stakeholders to understand emerging data and configure the data solution that effectively and efficiently meets the needs
- Evaluate ongoing data systems and designs to optimize business’s data analysis and decision-making ability and adopting the data environment to support new services and capabilities.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through the implementation of data governance and management practices.
- Organize and maintain data catalog and warehouse architecture.
- Collaborate with other members of the Technology team to integrate data systems with other technology platforms.
- Train assistants and other team members on data dictionary and metrics and models established to enable them to properly organize findings and analyze data collected.
- Research and properly evaluate information sources to determine possible reliability or usability limitations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
· Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems and related constituent data models preferred.
· Experience in Education, with knowledge of related compliance and governance requirements preferred.
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture and engineering.
- Amazing understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Experience with SQL and at least one programming or scripting language such as Python or Powershell.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and databases, data warehouses and data lakes.
- Excellent knowledge of database design and data warehouse principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Ability to work in an office and remote environment.
