ABOUT THE ROLE

Reports to: Director of Workforce

Location: Kansas City, MO – Remote or Hybrid

Status: Exempt, Full-time

Salary: Annual salary based on experience

Operating hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST

Key Performance Indicators:

    • Gain commitments through signed contracts from employers to make a financial contribution to the KC Talent Network. Goal of 10 new contracts a year.
    • Yearly revenue goal of $500,000 in new workforce partnership commitments
    • Build key relationships with 10 HR leads per year to secure an apprenticeship, internship, or full-time employment opportunities for scholars.
    • Ensure 80% of scholars are placed in jobs making $45,000 to $85,000 a year
    • Create and deliver 5 professional development programs per year to support scholars’ career path awareness and persistence rates in the first year of work
    • Become the subject matter expert on credentials requested by high-demand employers to ensure training aligns with regional job needs. Identify 5 industry credentials per year that yield salaries above $45,000 without a college degree.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Employer Engagement (40%)

    • Engage employers to build strategic relationships, produce employment opportunities, and operate career and industry-specific events designed with a diverse talent pool in mind.
    • Consult with target employers to learn their talent needs and acquisition plans, including details such as the potential number and type of positions and preferred acquisition strategies.
    • Serve as liaison to employer inquiries on customized recruiting strategies, engagement in department services/programs and rapid resolution of questions or issues.

Employer Support (25%)

    • Create and deliver experiential internships, apprenticeships, and jobs in various sectors that include but are not limited to: Construction, Healthcare, Information Technology, and Manufacturing.
    • Strong sales and negotiation skills to secure revenue-producing agreements related to talent pipeline building and full-time job placement.
    • Assess employer needs and direct employers into appropriate on-campus recruiting and educational programming channels.

Research & Data Management (20%)

    • Remain abreast of regional, statewide, and national workforce pipeline/career development initiatives with successful revenue-generating models.
    • Maintain strong knowledge of KC Scholars talent pool high school through adult learner program. Utilize internal talent data to forecast talent available for hire in specific industry sectors.
    • Maintain and be knowledgeable in MS Office, LinkedIn, and social media, (Facebook promotion, etc.)
    • Assist with the implementation of career experience and outcomes surveys to assess the impact of outreach efforts. 
    • Research economic and employment markets to source potential employers and marketing channels as well as understand talent acquisition trends.

Event Coordination (10%)

  • Collaborate with department team members to plan and implement niche employer-connection events and activities, such as boutique career fairs, networking events, employer fairs and employer educational presentations.

Misc. (5%)

  • Occasional other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business, Account Management, or Human Resources.

Work Experience:

    • At least five years of related work experience in business, corporate, construction, health care of information technology highly preferred.
    • Three years of project planning and management required.

Physical requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
    •  Ability to work in an office and remote environment.
    • Ability to travel from and to work and occasionally to regional sites as the organization grows.
    • Ability to interact with others via technology, face-to-face and collectively.
